Annual Day, Capping & Oath taking Ceremony’ for 1st year GNM students (batch 2018-19) of VKNRL School of Nursing was planned and organized on 13-03-2019. Mr. Ramen Sarma, Chairman Governing Body VKNRL SoN chaired the session. The host of the event was Ms Catherine Kujur, Faculty VKNRLSoN.

Programme started with Lamp lighting on the portrait of Florence Nightingale and Sister Nivedita followed by Tin Omkar Mangalacharanam. The dignitaries: Chief Guest of the programme Mr. S.K. Barua, Managing Director Numaligarh Refinery Limited, Guest of Honor Dr. Ajaya Mahanta, Senior Consultant Neurologist, Dispur Hospital Guwahati; Mr. Ramen Sharma, Chairman, Governing Body and Sovarani Sarma Borkotoky, Chairperson Local Management Committee, VKNRL School of Nursing were invited to the dias.


Ms. Namita Chetri, Principal In charge of the school addressed the gathering with her welcome speech. The 2nd Year students of VKNRL School of Nursing presented an astonishing dance performance which was followed by speech on the significance of cap by Ms. Anuradha Choudhury, Faculty VKNRLSoN. Then started the main attraction of the event, Capping and lighting of the candle, the candle was lighted by the Principal In charge to the faculty and from the faculty to the students which depicts transferring the ray of hope and knowledge in the same order. After lighting the candle the 1st year GNM students took the Nurses pledge led by Mrs. Namita Chetri Principal in Charge VKNRL School of Nursing followed by a melodious song sung by the budding nurses.


The dignitaries of the event shared their encouraging words with us. Guest of Honor of the programme highlighted the uniqueness of Nursing profession and the attitude and sense of commitment the students should develop towards nursing the sick and caring the humanity as a whole.


A detailed report of the Annual School week UTSAH 2019 was presented by Ms Nishita Dutta Faculty cum SNA Advisor, VKNRL SoN followed by prize distribution. Florence Nightingale house has been able to achieve the title of Best House amongst the four.


          Mr. S.K.Barua, Chief Guest appreciated the efforts of the entire team of the institute and highlighted that Vivekananda Kendra has not left any stone unturned to achieve the goal of the institute. He wished the students a bright future ahead.


Presidential Address: Respected Mr. Ramen Sharma Chairman Governing Body VKNRLSoN addressed the gathering and motivated the students to have positive attitude towards nursing profession by focusing the existing scope of nursing and its future prospects.


            Ms. Nishita Dutta delivered the vote of thanks which was followed by Shanti Mantra.


Chief Guest along with other dignitaries had a look at the posters and rangoli prepared by the students and appreciated their talents.

Guest of honour inaugurated the 1st wall magazine “Sewar Sadhana 2019”. She has also taken a very effective lecture session on “Geriatric Nursing”.

We as the organizers once again are thankful to GB and LMC members of VKNRL School of Nursing for initiating, guiding, supporting and motivating us throughout this event.
